All over the world coffee is an intimate rite but not in Italy! Don’t miss a break in one of the many small and crowded bars at least twice a day when you travel here. It is a good occasion to observe the local human fauna and to improve your social relationships. Italy insiders never order simply a coffe… but a variety of possible alternatives ranging from Caffè Macchiato to Moretto or Marocchino! And be careful: what you will get for a Moretto in the Southern part of the peninsula is not what a northern insider may expect from his loyal barman!
Ingredients:
1/2 cup of coffee
30 g dark chocolate
2 cl rum
40 g whipping cream cinnamon
1/2 tsp sweetened cocoa powder
Brew espresso. Break the dark chocolate into little bits. Stir in espresso until dissolved and add rum. Beat the cream until stiff peaks form and add 2 teaspoons in each espresso cup. Douse with hot espresso. Mix ground cinnamon and sweetened cocoa powder and sprinkle over the Moretto. Serve immediately.
